Hatch 4 Schools

In February, 6 spritely chicks hatched in an incubator in Paula’s room. We looked after them carefully until they were bigger and then the farmer who runs the ‘hatch4schools’ programme came to tell us about raising hens and he took them back to join their family on the farm in Inagh, Co. Clare. We all loved seeing the chicks grow and were amazed at how much energy they had after only a few hours outside the egg. All children wanted to name the chicks so they wrote and submitted name suggestions and prizes were awarded for creative names and explanations.
