First Class Celebrate National Tree Day
First Class had a wonderful time celebrating National Tree Day with a special workshop led by Geoff Hunt, organised by Yvonne!
We started our workshop by heading outside to our tiny forest, where we collected lots of interesting things from the trees. We found a husk, mast, conkers, an ash leaf, a hawthorn leaf and a sycamore leaf.
When we came back to the classroom, Geoff taught us all about the different things we had collected and explained how each one contributes to the life of a tree. We learned lots of fascinating facts!
We then learned all about sycamore leaves and discovered why some of them have tar spots on them. We were amazed to find out what causes these unusual spots!
To finish our workshop, we sang a song together.
A big thank you to Geoff for coming into our classroom, teaching us so many interesting things and helping us celebrate National Tree Day. We had a fantastic time learning about and appreciating the wonderful trees around us!
